On June 28, 2025, we lost Steve Hellem, founder and CEO of Navista, The Public Affairs Group. Steve was more than an accomplished consultant and business leader—he was a trusted advisor, mentor, and friend whose impact extended far beyond the work he did.
Throughout his career, Steve was known for his innovative thinking, strategic vision, and unique ability to bring people together. Through coalition building, facilitation, and collaboration, he helped clients navigate complex challenges and achieve meaningful success. He approached every engagement with enthusiasm, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others succeed.
What truly distinguished Steve, however, was his genuine care for people. He took a personal interest in the lives of colleagues, clients, and friends, always asking about their families and celebrating their milestones. Whether traveling long distances to attend a wedding, honoring the loss of a colleague, or simply offering encouragement when it was needed most, Steve showed up for people in ways that made lasting impressions.
Steve also believed deeply in creating opportunities for others. He generously welcomed young interns to Navista, mentored those seeking guidance, and opened doors for individuals looking for a chance to grow and succeed. His willingness to share his knowledge, experience, and encouragement touched many lives and helped shape countless careers.
Steve’s larger-than-life personality, boundless creativity, and generous spirit remain deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. While Navista concluded its journey one year after his passing, Steve’s legacy lives on through the relationships he built, the people he inspired, and the positive impact he made on his community and profession.
